Following on from his previous article, Darren dropped us a quick note to provide an update on the progress being made within Aviva:-

Having taken some time to get off the ground we met for the first time on 4th November. The meeting was well attended with 13 governors from KS1/2 schools coming along to share their own experiences and discuss ideas on how to really utilise the network of other governors within Aviva. Initially we have deliberately looked to focus on KS1/2 schools in Norfolk and Norwich with a view to widening to all schools and the wider Aviva UK once we have established ourselves.

As well as discussing our experiences and what we wanted to get out of the Network we also had our first guest who came along to talk to us about Aviva's Runaway Awareness Programme (RAP).

The RAP programme aims to tackle awareness and prevention of running away with school children. Aviva Employee Volunteers deliver education modules into the final year of Primary Schools to help children understand the dangers of running away. The education modules are based on material developed by The Department for Education and The Children's Society. If your own school would be interested in learning more or you would like Aviva to come to your school please contact Vikki Harper at Aviva ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. At the end of the meeting we all agreed that it was time well spent and agreed to hold regular meetings on a bi-monthly basis. We will be looking to invite further guest speakers to future meetings to speak on subjects that the whole group identify as being of importance and interest. Word has already spread since the first meeting and our numbers have grown to just over 20 wishing to attend the next meeting to be held in January.
